The Ellen Black Winston Papers contains correspondence, clippings, photographs, postcards, and other materials documenting Winston's life and career. The collection contains correspondence and clippings about Winston's service as Commissioner of Public Welfare in North Carolina and as U.S. Commissioner of Welfare. It also features genealogical information, family correspondence, and sympathy correspondence following the death of Winston's husband, Sanford. During their marriage, the Winstons collected hundreds of postcards from across the United States and around the world, which are also included in this collection.
